About Sheerya

Sheerya Shivers holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Illinois Wesleyan University. She has sung in several operas, recitals, and concerts in the United States and in Europe, and was most recently a soloist with the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy.

Operas in which Sheerya has appeared include Carmen by Bizet, Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute) by Mozart, Semele by Handel, Susannah by Carlyle Floyd, and Ruddigore and Iolanthe by Gilbert & Sullivan.  At least one full recital is presented annually, and she participates as a guest soloist in several recitals throughout the year. During her final semester of college, she had the opportunity to collaborate with two peers to present a concert featuring arias of the Baroque era as well as traditional Italian music.

In addition to her love for music written in the distant past, Sheerya is interested in new music by contemporary composers. In the spring of 2007, she was a featured soloist at Illinois Wesleyan University's Contemporary Music Symposium with guest composer Stephen Paulus, which turned out to be one of her most treasured musical experiences.

Sheerya currently attends the University of Oregon where she is pursuing a Master of Music in voice.  She studies with Ruth Dobson.

At Illinois Wesleyan University she studied voice with Dr. Carren Moham for four years, and despite the miles between Oregon and Illinois, Sheerya remains close with Dr. Moham and the other members of her studio.
